Two designers (graphic / web, etc...) would get together on their own machines and a moderator would give them a starting point (I think). The first designer to "serve" would start with a blank PSD (a source Photoshop graphics file), do their thing, and then pass it over to the next designer to layer in their ideas. The audience / fans / crowd would sit on the site and watch the PSDs go back & forth. It was quite entertaining. Now, I'm probably missing a whole bunch of details, but I believe that was the gist.
